01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At lunch, the hamo tempura rice bowl comes generously topped with thick, fluffy pike conger. One diner described the sauce as easy to enjoy right to the last bite. Reviews also mention salad, small side dishes, pickles and red miso soup served alongside, making it a good choice for a meal that goes beyond the bowl. A diner who tried a limited-time tempura rice bowl on another occasion reported that it came with red miso soup, a small side dish and pickles. Others have chosen the sashimi set meal or tuna rice bowl.

In the evening, settle in over rolled omelette, sashimi and tempura. Diners have singled out the rolled omelette as memorable; the menu lists a Kyoto-style dashi omelette made with Okukuji eggs in portions for one to two or three to four people. Other dishes include duck breast and aubergine simmered in dashi, while the fried selection features a whole anago tempura and an assorted tempura platter. There is plenty to choose from if you would rather pick a few dishes to share with drinks.

The sake list includes a tasting set of local Akita brews as well as bottles available by the carafe. Some diners have enjoyed the selection of sake, and one review noted a particular fondness for the Akita dishes. A counter is available, and the restaurant is described as suitable for solo dining. Tasuke is an option in Ikebukuro for a set lunch or a leisurely evening meal of dishes and drinks.
